September Solutions Part 1

Often times an area that lacks in “scheduled routines” is that of dental checkups. At Dentists R Us, we have found that the cause behind this is usually the cost involved with regular checkups, cleanings, and possible fillings.

However, we don’t want your finances to be a factor in your families oral health care. Nor does BC Medical. That is why they have a program in place in order to keep your kids healthy, regardless of your personal income.

The Healthy Kids Program is a program that helps low-income families with costs associated with basic dental care, as well as prescription glasses for their children. If your child is living with you and is under 19 years of age, and your family is approved for premium assistance by the Medical Services Plan (MSP), you are automatically registered with the Healthy Kids Program.

Simply book your appointment at one of our many conveniently located Dentists R Us offices, and inform the receptionist about this particular coverage – providing us with your child’s’ BC Health Card # – and we can confirm your coverage for you. Once confirmed, we will be able to inform you what your portion will cost, and your child will be ready to come in for their dental appointment.

Coverage under the Healthy Kids Program is as follows…

  • Dental – Children are eligible for $1400 of basic dental services every two years. This coverage includes services such as exams, x-rays, fillings, cleanings and extractions. Dentists can advise families of other services that may be covered.
  • Optical – Children are eligible for prescription eyeglasses (lenses and basic frames) once in a twelve-month period. Children’s eye examinations are covered by MSP.
  • Additional charges over and above what the Healthy Kids Program will cover are the responsibility of the family.
