The procedure begins by trimming the tooth, then taking an impression (mold) of the top and bottom teeth, then a crown is fabricated to fit over the trimmed tooth. Lastly, the crown is cemented or bonded to complete the restoration of the tooth.
This is all done by our trained dental professionals, with the latest dental techniques and comfort in mind. A crown can last up to 10 to 15 years, especially if you pay close attention to the things you chew.
Children & Crowns
Often times a pediatric dentist won’t recommend a porcelain crown for your child as children still have baby teeth, and therefore will lose the costly crown eventually. So the need for such an esthetic expense would be short-lived and likely unnecessary.
However, your dental professional will often suggest metal crowns if your child has had a large filling and that tooth could be at risk for cracking.
