New Years resolutions are hopeful intentions created to clean up our lives in some manner, and make positive changes for the year ahead. Although these intentions are well meaning, they often fail due to a variety of reasons. So at DentistsRUs, we wanted to help our reading audience resolve to keep their New Years resolutions with these 4 tips!

Create Doable Resolutions
Making doable, bite-sized resolutions is the first step to keeping them. Attempting to make a whole bunch of major transitions in your life simply isn’t a realistic approach to change, but making small changes and challenging yourself to grow in certain targeted areas can truly work.

Have a Successful Mindset
Making your resolutions while sipping on your 5th glass of wine New Years Eve might not be enough prep time to have that “sticky factor” needed to truly offer a successful outcome.

The earlier you start planning your resolutions the better. Make a list, check it twice, and create an action plan that includes a successful mindset in order to put your resolutions into motion and have them gaining forward momentum.

Plan to Partner Up
Partnering up with a friend or family member on the same or similar resolutions can help to keep you accountable, as well as offer motivation and support to get you through the first 2-week hump of these new life shifts. Because they say 2-weeks is truly all you need to create a new habit …so if you can partner up with someone, it will be more likely you will be able to complete your resolutions for 2017.

Give Yourself a Reward
Altering your daily habits is hard, so go easy on yourself with a reward system that you plan out ahead of time. Whether it is a weekly treat night, or an outing splurge, or a spa trip at the end of each month or a teeth whitening treatment to add to your new look …create some sort of reward system to keep you motivated for the duration of the coming year.

At DentistsRUs we love to share in the successes of others, and we would be thrilled to hear about your resolutions …so feel free to share them on our FACEBOOK PAGE and allow us to cheer you on in 2017!
