Sedation Dental Group
Not all dental offices offer sedation dentistry, but at DentistsRUs, all of our 5 locations in the Lower Mainland provide dentists who can offer sedation options to their patients.
Although some dentists can prescribe pills that will relax you, or even administer nitrous oxide, only a select group of dental professionals are qualified to provide sedation dentistry, or have a dental anesthesiologist on staff who is specially trained to give all levels of sedation and anesthesia to both children and adults.
So depending on your needs and levels of sedation you feel you might want or need, will depend on who is qualified to actually help serve those needs.
Is Sedation Dentistry Safe?
Whether you are walking your child to school or participating in an extreme sport, there are varying levels of risk no matter what you do in life.
The same goes for anesthesia. However, most risk is eliminated when an experienced professional is conducting the service. Which will be the ONLY case when it comes to any of our DentistsRUs dentists.
That being said, no matter how experienced a dentist might be, factors such as obesity, or those who suffer from sleep apnea, should talk to their doctors before undergoing sedation dentistry, in particular – if they are going to be having a treatment which they have requested anesthesia for.
Well Trained Sedation Dental Practices
A well-trained sedation dental professional will ensure they go over your medical history in order to decide if you are right for sedation dentistry, and seek to understand the types of medication you are taking as well.
Also, ask your dental professional about their training if they do not offer such information, and inquire into the length of time they have been conducting sedation dentistry. Your 100% comfort is paramount, so never feel like this is a “rude” question, it is fully in your right to ask.
After a consultation you should receive information about the risks of the sedation and procedure you will be having, which you can go over with your dentist also, and clarify any medical terms or items you may not be familiar with.
At DentistsRUs, we are happy to provide anyone who wishes to have their dental treatment under sedation receive it, which is why we are pleased to offer an extensive list of our professionals below!
