Dental Implants – The Facts

A dental implant is a frame or metal posts that is inserted into the jawbone beneath your gums. It does not need to be an uncomfortable procedure, but can be addressed nicely under sedation dentistry.

Dental Implants – The Function

As the implant is fused to your jawbone, it creates solid support for the placement of artificial teeth. Bridges can be mounted to these implants without worry of slipping or shifting, and also created a stable environment for the crowns, which are placed over the implants.

A lot of individuals do not want the embarrassment that “false teeth” -or dentures- offer their lifestyle, so implants provide an excellent solution for those desiring “real teeth”.

Keep in mind that dental implants require healthy gums and bones in order to support the implant. Not just leading up to the procedure, but post-procedure as well …it is imperative that your gums and jaw bone remain healthy in order to keep these structures in place.

Regular dental visits are still needed to ensure no changes have been made to your oral health, that is not visible to the naked eye.

Although implants are almost always more costly than all other procedures, the long-lasting benefits are often worth the cost for most, even though a lot of dental insurance companies often only cover a minimal amount at best.

In addition to the secure and long-lasting nature of a dental implant, they also form a perfect setting for esthetically pleasing, dental perfection.
