There comes a time in nearly every persons life when they require having their wisdom teeth removed – but this does not need to be a scary procedure nor something to fear.

When it comes to wisdom teeth removal, DentistsRUs can provide you with dental professionals who offer sedation dentistry to calm your nerves, and remove your wisdom teeth without you being “any the wiser” …as in – unaware!

However, a lot can be said for calming out patients fears even before they come into any of our Lower Mainland dental offices for the wisdom teeth removal treatment, which is why we wanted to share these “what to expect” peace of mind points with you…

Wisdom Teeth Removal – Before Your Appointment
Meeting with one of our dental professionals to talk about your wisdom teeth removal will be the first order of events. During this appointment you will have the opportunity to discuss any concerns you have, including medical issues, medications you are on, your cost associated with wisdom teeth removal apart from your insurance provider, as well as the level of sedation you are hoping for when your wisdom teeth are removed.

Wisdom Teeth Removal – The Day of Your Appointment
You will be asked to come with a parent or guardian in order to help you get home after your appointment, with surgery often lasting around 45 minutes or less.

Once you are comfortably sedated, your wisdom teeth will be extracted. After which a few stitches may be necessary to close up the area, but sometimes your dental professional will allow the area to heal and close naturally.

Wisdom Teeth Removal – After Care
You will be given pieces of gauze to bite down gently on to soak up any post-surgery blood, as well as to keep the empty sockets clean for a certain amount of time after the surgery.

You will only need a day or two off of normal activities, such as work or school, in order to allow for healing and rest, and there should be little to no discomfort following your surgery,

Any discomfort can be addressed with the use of an icepack or a warm compress on your face, along with an over-the-counter pain relief medication. As well, you should begin to gently open and close your jaw to further the healing and circulation, as well as drink plenty of fluids.

At DentistsRUs, we ensure you wisdom teeth removal treatment is a pain-free procedure that will leave you in good form, and smiling a healthy smile in no time!
